# The measurement tabs

> What each reading tab on your public site shows: temperature and the feels-like family, humidity, wind with the compass and wind rose, pressure with its trend and altimeter, rain, sun and sunshine hours, and the Sensors tab for accessory channels.

Beside the Overview, your site has one tab per kind of reading your station
reports. Each opens on the current value, the day's high and low, and a chart
with a range switcher (24 hours to a year, as your
[archive allows](https://pro-weather.com/docs/features/almanac-history#historic-charts)). This page
lists what each tab adds beyond that, including the values Pro Weather derives
from what the station measured.

A tab appears only when the station reports the reading behind it. A station
without a solar sensor has no Sun tab, and nothing is invented to fill the gap.

## Temperature

Always present when the station reports an outdoor temperature. Alongside the
current reading, the day's high and low and the average:

- A trend: an arrow with "rising", "falling" or "steady", graded to "rapidly"
  or "slowly" at the ends, and the change over the last hour. It shares its
  bands with the barometer's trend so the two never disagree about what
  "rapidly" means.
- The feels-like family, each with a one-line explanation on the page: dew
  point, heat index, wind chill, humidex, apparent temperature, and wet-bulb
  temperature.
- Cloud base: the estimated height at which clouds form, from the spread
  between temperature and dew point.
- WBGT (shade): the wet bulb globe temperature that heat-stress guidance is
  written against, shown only once heat stress is a real question. See

  approximation leaves out.

Every derived value follows a [calibration](https://pro-weather.com/docs/calibration) correction to the
readings it comes from.

## Humidity

Relative humidity with its high, low and average, and the dew point beside it.
Growers who would rather have vapour pressure deficit find it on the
[Garden & agriculture tab](https://pro-weather.com/docs/features/agronomy).

## Wind

Average wind, gust, direction, the day's peak gust and the wind run (the
distance the air travelled past the station today). Two optional widgets sit
with it:

- A live compass showing the current bearing, its arrow coloured by Beaufort
  force.
- The [wind rose](https://pro-weather.com/docs/features/almanac-history#the-wind-rose): which
  directions the wind came from over the last 30 days, coloured by strength,
  in 8 or 16 points.

Both are toggled under **Panels → Wind & sky detail**.

## Pressure

Sea-level pressure with high, low and average, and the three-hour trend as an
arrow and a word. Two further readings appear when the station supplies what
they need:

- Station pressure: the raw reading at the station's own altitude, for anyone
  comparing against a local barometer.
- Altimeter setting: station pressure adjusted the way aircraft altimeters
  are calibrated, so it can be compared across altitudes. It needs the
  station's elevation and works over the whole archive, since it is
  calculated rather than stored.

## Rain

Rain today, the last hour, the last 24 hours, this month and this year, plus
the current rate and the day's peak rate. When the console tracks a storm, the
storm total appears with the date the storm began. Daily totals roll over at
your [weather day](https://pro-weather.com/docs/features/almanac-history#the-weather-day), midnight
unless you set otherwise.

## Sun

Solar radiation and UV index with their highs and averages, the solar energy
received today (in megajoules per square metre) and today's UV dose (in
minimal erythema doses, the amount that begins to redden skin). Below them,
sunshine hours for today and yesterday with the share of possible daylight
they represent, [derived from the solar readings](https://pro-weather.com/docs/features/agronomy#sunshine-hours-without-a-sunshine-sensor)
without a sunshine sensor.

## Sensors

The accessory channels that pushed hardware and vendor-cloud connections
deliver, each with a seven-day trend where there is something to trend:

- Room sensors: up to 16 extra temperature and humidity channels, each with
  its own dew point.
- Probes: up to eight single-temperature probes.
- Lightning: strikes today, the time and distance of the last strike, and
  strikes per day over the week.
- Leak detectors: wet or dry per channel, with when it last went wet.

Soil moisture, soil temperature, soil conductivity and leaf wetness live on the
[Garden & agriculture tab](https://pro-weather.com/docs/features/agronomy) instead. The Sensors tab
hides itself when the station reports none of the above, so leaving it on costs
a Davis-only site nothing.
