Weather station software comes in two flavours. Self-hosted programs like WeeWX and CumulusMX run on your own computer and give you full local control, in exchange for maintaining that computer, its operating system, backups, and web hosting. Hosted services run all of that for you and deliver the finished product: the public website.
Pro Weather is the hosted kind. It ingests your station data (Davis via WeatherLink, Ecowitt and Fine Offset gateways via direct upload, or WeeWX, Meteobridge, and CumulusMX as a bridge), stores every observation permanently, and serves a branded public site with live conditions, forecasts, charts, records, and warnings, plus outbound publishing to community networks.
The two approaches also combine well: many owners keep their local software for tinkering and let its upload feature feed the hosted site, so the public website stays online even when the home setup does not. If the goal is the website rather than the server behind it, hosted is the shorter path.

A practical migration path
