Climate reports (NOAA style)
Monthly and annual climatological summaries built from your own archive, on screen and as a plain-text download.
The Reports tab on your site prints the classic climatological summary: a month as one row per day, a year as one row per month, in the layout weewx and CumulusMX users know. Every figure comes from your own archive.
Turning it on
Climate reports is on by default under Homepage → Sections and tabs. The tab appears once your archive holds about a week of days. Reports are part of Pro and the free trial.
The monthly summary
One row per day, with a totals row underneath:

Below the table are the standard day counts: days the high reached 30 °C (90 °F), days the high stayed at or below freezing, nights at or below freezing and at or below -20 °C (0 °F), and days of rain at or above 0.3, 3 and 30 mm (0.01, 0.1 and 1 in).
The annual summary
Pick a year to get three tables, each with one row per month and a row for the whole year:
- Temperature: average high, average low, mean, degree days, extremes with their dates, and the four day counts.
- Precipitation: total, the wettest day and its date, and the days-of-rain counts.
- Wind: average speed, strongest gust with its date, and the dominant direction.
Period means are the average of the daily means, so every day counts once whatever your station's reporting interval. Totals and extremes use every day.
Degree days
Heating and cooling degree days use each day's mean temperature against a base of 18.3 °C / 65 °F, the NOAA convention and the weewx and CumulusMX default. The base and method are printed on the report.
These are unrelated to the growing degree days on the Garden & agriculture tab, which use a crop base.
The text download
Download as text gives the classic fixed-width file, named NOAA-2026-08.txt
for a month and NOAA-2026.txt for a year, the names weewx and CumulusMX use.
The file is never translated, because its column positions are the format. It
follows your site's units: °C, mm and km/h on metric, °C, mm and mph on Metric
UK, °F, inches and mph on imperial.
Marked days and gaps
A day marked with an asterisk had fewer than 24 readings, usually a gap in collection or the day you connected. Its high and low are the extremes of what was measured, and it is left out of the period means.
Two columns depend on your archive:
- Dominant direction needs a wind bearing stored with each reading. Days without one show a dash.
- Times of extremes are exact on a WeatherLink Pro or Pro+ archive. On other archives the time is that of the reading that set the extreme, so it is accurate to your refresh interval.
Fixing or removing a reading in the Data editor updates the affected month's report.
