Sun & moon
The Astronomy tab: sunrise, sunset, day length, twilight, moon phase, and where sun and moon are right now, from your station location.
The Astronomy tab is calculated from your station's coordinates. There is nothing to configure beyond a location; see Turning it on or off if your station has none yet. Switch the tab under Homepage > Sections and tabs > Sun and Moon.
Sun
- Sunrise, sunset and solar noon, with a progress bar through the day.
- Day length, and how much it changed since yesterday.
- Civil, nautical and astronomical twilight, dawn to dusk.
- Where the sun is now: compass bearing and height above the horizon.
- The next equinox and solstice.
Moon
- Phase, with its illuminated fraction.
- Moonrise, moonset and transit (its highest point).
- Where the moon is now, and its distance.
- The next new moon, first quarter, full moon and last quarter.
To show the sun only, switch off Moon phase and times under Homepage > Maps and media > Wind and sky.
Precision
Equinoxes and solstices are given with a time; the calculation is good to a few minutes. Moon phases are given as dates only, because the lunar calculation is good to a couple of hours.
Near the poles, days without a sunrise or sunset show no time and no day length rather than an invented one.
